The Challenge

Harpreet is a college student from a small town in Punjab. Her classes are taught in English, but English is not her first language. When she reads textbooks, the sentences feel long and difficult. In class, teachers move quickly, and she does not always understand important points.

She wants to study well, but she often feels confused and loses confidence.

How AI Helped Harpreet Learn

Harpreet began using a general AI chat tool on her mobile phone as a study helper.

When she did not understand a topic, she copied a short paragraph from her textbook and asked the AI to explain it. The AI broke the information into smaller parts and explained each idea in simple language.

When English words were difficult, she asked the AI to explain them in Punjabi. This helped her understand faster and feel more confident.

Before exams, she used AI to turn long chapters into short notes and to practise simple questions.

Her First Prompt

At first, Harpreet used a very basic prompt:

“Explain this topic to me.”

The answer was correct, but it was still difficult to understand. The language was complex, and the explanation was too long.

Improving the Prompt

Harpreet learned that better instructions lead to better answers. She changed her prompt to:

“Explain this topic in simple English.”

This helped, but some explanations were still confusing.

Using a Clear and Ethical Prompt

Finally, Harpreet used a more structured and thoughtful prompt:

“Explain this topic in very simple English for a college student from Punjab.
Use short sentences.
Explain difficult words in Punjabi.
Make sure the information is accurate.”

This small change made the answers much easier to understand.

What Changed

With clearer explanations, Harpreet studied more confidently and understood her subjects better. AI did not replace her teachers or books. It helped her learn in a way that matched her language and pace.

Why This Matters

Many students think AI is only for experts. Harpreet’s experience shows that small changes in how we ask questions can make AI more useful, fair, and accessible.

Ethical prompting helps people get clear, respectful, and accurate support, especially across languages and cultures.
